Today I started my double page spread. I added in the main image, and put in the title of the documentary and website and social media links. I tried to put a barrier around the image, and
I didn't put the barrier all the way down because the content would not fit proportionately if I had, plus it makes all of it quite dark and not aesthetically pleasing. I decided to take the barrier off, and move the main image to the left and the name to the right. I then put the barrier along the top and side again, and make it black with the date white. I then edited I the copy, making a drop cap on the first letter to conform to conventions of magazines, which I learnt how to do from a tutorial online, http://www.indesignskills.com/tutorials/drop-cap-indesign/# . I selected a quote out of the copy and edited it between the other paragraphs with a larger font size. This looks aesthetically pleasing while drawing reader's attention to the article and making them curious about the rest of the text.
I also changed the outline of the masthead and the quote to green to adhere to my colour palette of black, white and green, which is modern and stylish, just like modern day technology. I then took inspiration from https://www.vodafone.com/content/dam/vodafone/parents/assets_2013/pdf/vodafone_digital_parenting_issue3_lo_res.pdf
Which inspired me to add a 'Popular apps' section, in which I added logos from popular apps into my double page spread and the name of the app. This would help readers recognise the topic of the documentary but also make the double page spread more aesthetically pleasing. I also added 'tips for controlling settings' for both parent and students to read to help prevent distractions and make the phone safer to use. I edited in pictures of recent iPhones to anchor the meaning of the documentary, and to make the pages more aesthetically pleasing.
